Historical Facts

1928: Pierre and Eugénie Savoye order a house for their Poissy property to le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret
1929–1931: Construction of the Villa Savoye and its gardener's lodge
1940: The villa is requisitioned during World War II and the Savoye family slowly cease to inhabit it
1958: The Savoye familly is expropriated. The villa is under demolition threat, an international mobilisation rises to protect it
1962: Acquisition of the Villa by the State
1965: Classification of the Villa Savoye as historical monument
1967–1997: Multiple restoration campaigns are realised on the villa and the gardener's lodge
2015: Restoration of the gardener's lodge and recreation of its original polychromies
2016: The Villa Savoye and its gardener's lodge are inscribed on the UNESCO world heritage list as part of the Le Corbusier œuvre
